Happy Halloween!

I love this Holiday! It is so fun to dress up and go to parties :) This year was a favorite of mine...First, \the movie theater had a special halloween party for all of its employees. We got to eat all kinds of yummy treats and watch a movie after the theater was closed. We ended up watching "Casper"...not my pick for the scariest Halloween thriller but I had fun watching it! I was really happy that they let me invite my best friend, Chris...he doesn't work there but is still part of the Westates family :) My friend Marianne even dressed up as her boyfriend Frank for our work party! It was so hilarious because she ended up looking just like him...

Then on Friday Night we went to "The Howl" a Halloween dance at the Staheli Farm. It was really fun, and Chris dressed up as a Chippendale! Haha it was so funny there was like 10 other guys in the same costume and he got so mad everytime he saw someone else. My friends Jennifer and Sara went a lady bug and butterfly, and I went as Tracy Turnblad from the movie Hairspray. If you haven't seen it, you better because it is my favorite movie!Hope you all had a Happy Halloween!
Love Always,
Amanda

Homecoming Parade...Arrrr you feelin' the Dixie Spirit?

WOW! I wanted to tell you guys about a tradition we have here at Dixie State that is so much fun. Last week was Homecoming Week and there are so many fun activities on campus. My favorite two are Rock the Mall and our DSC Homecoming Parade. I was so sad that I wasn't able to make it to Rock The Mall this year...but I am determined to get a good math grade and they were both at the same time! But I am so, so proud of my fellow Ambassador's who took FIRST PLACE in the competition this year! They sang a pirate-themed version of the school song, which was so hilarious! And in the parade, we decorated our float to look like an old-timey pirate ship and dressed like some serious swash-bucklin' people. This year, there was even a competition and award for best float, and out of sixty one contestants we won too! It was so much fun singing the school song (even though it was so freezing) and these are the moments that I love best about our school. You can really feel the pride for our school at these events, and I'm proud to be a part of it!
Love Always,
Amanda

p.s. Here are some wonderful photos from the parade...hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Freshman No More....

Hello everyone...I am so happy to be back! This year (my sophomore year! I can't believe I survived my first year...just kidding of course!) started off so busy, but things are getting even more fast-paced with our midterms approaching. I just started my first block class, which for those of you who are curious, is a class that is more concentrated and usually happens every day, but starts in October instead of August. It is a math class and I have to tell you, I really love my math teacher, Dr. Banks. She is so hilarious and explains math in the perfect way for me to understand. I even got a B on the first test! I was so proud of my self. Math isn't my strongest subject, but I have a feeling that as long as I apply myself that I can work hard to get a good grade.
I know it's already October and I should have been writing more! But I will give you a good update of my life since we last got to catch up: This summer was lots of fun, I mostly worked at the movie theater, but I did get to go on some fun trips to Cedar City, Provo, Las Vegas and even California. Me and my best friend Chris also had lots of crazy adventures, as usual. I'm still totally obssessed with fashion, and I was super excited this summer when I saved up enough money for my first Juicy Couture handbag. I love it when you work hard to earn something and accomplish your goal! I will, of course, include a picture of my purse so you can see it. But the most important thing about fashion isn't about how exclusive or expensive an item is. It's about what makes you feel good and what reflects your style. I learned that from Tim Gunn, who is the host of Tim Gunn's Guide to Style on the bravo channel. You might also know him from Project Runway, which I am currently obssesed with. I was rooting for Jerrell :( but now I am trying to decide between Kenley and Korto. The finale airs tonight, so don't forget to tune in! That's all for now! Have a chic week :)

Love Always,
Amanda
