I decided to write in purple today to match the birthstone Amethyst, which is the birthstone for the the month of February! I'm not just a weirdo for knowing that...my birthday is this month! I will be 19 on 2/22/2008, the same birthday as George Washington (formerly...he no longer celebrates. RIP honesty about the cherry tree president) Drew Barrymore (which, ironically enough, has been my favorite actress since I was 10) and Rachel Dratch (of SNL fame...ever heard of Debbie Downer? Haha!) I am excited but to be honest life is flying by! I feel like I just started Kindergarten, not college. I know its still about 3 weeks away but I get so excited about these things. But after I've been posting these past weeks I have forgotten to update you on certain activities and how they went:
- AMBASSADOR RETREAT(1/11) was one of the funnest nights ever...but thinking about it makes me tired! We stayed up playing games (like Werewolf, which is so addicting. I was going to stop after 2 games but played 5) and listening to the guys playing guitar. My friend Doug has an amazing voice! Guess who is crazy and forgot her camera...AGAIN! I'm not used to having one but I'll bum pics from someone, I promise!
- REBEL RETREAT(1/25) was a smashing success. We had a great turnout. Kids from all over UT and the US came to check out DSC. It was so fun! We went to Entertainment Dixie and saw this hilarious improv comedy group called "Mission Improvable" and we also had a bonfire party afterwards. One of our advisors, Pat, left his car running to do something for a minute and was standing talking to someone and noticed a car rolling away. "What an idiot!" He yelled, not realizing it was his own car! It was hilarious, but paying the repair bill won't be...
There is always lots of fun things going on at Dixie. Tonight is the SHE club sleepover and we are also going to the Mr. Dixie pageant, which I have been looking forward to for months. I will update you every last juicy detail, as always, next Friday!
Love Always,
Amanda
p.s. Here is an Update: The Mr. Dixie Pageant was so fun! One kid wanted the title so badly he ate live worms and goldfish...for me, no crown (no matter how diamond encrusted) would be worth it! Congrats to Kadin Allen for taking the crown (Fortunately for him he just played the piano instead eating creepy crawly things)
